Pronouns, Labels, and Inclusion: LGBTQ Voices
I have worked with the San Joaquin Pride Center, a local LGBTQ resource center in Stockton, CA, to create informational resources about language, gender, and sexuality. Within the LGBTQ community, language is important to define oneself internally and to others in the community. At the same time, much of this language is complicated and changes quickly. Topics include pronouns and identity labels. These materials are meant so that the center can distribute to community members who may be exploring their own identity or for those who have a friend or family member they want to learn how to support. They will also be translated into Spanish and other community languages.
